In the early nineteen eighties, Power Manga was introduced as a new Japanese comic book series. The concept of Power Manga was the merging of Japanese comic book art with the use of karate. The result was a manga that was a mixture of traditional Japanese style art and karate poses that would give the reader a very realistic look at martial arts in Japan. Power Manga was later adapted into a series of Japanese movies. There were four movie adaptations, the most successful being "The Seven Deadly Sins".
Kano was a young master, who was killed in a karate tournament. He came back to life after several years, only to find that he had gained the power of the black ninja. He set out to train all the other ninjas in the world and become the next Hokage, or head of the Ninja clan. There is quite a bit of action in the Power Manga story line and it looks very similar to what one would expect of a karate story. It has been said that over seventy percent of Power Manga's images are drawn with karate poses and karate master poses in mind.
Power Manga is known for its many unique and powerful drawings. It also looks quite futuristic, with its combination of Japanese style art mixed with an unusual blend of karate techniques. If you have never seen this type of comic book, you are in for a treat as it features some very intense and well-drawn action sequences that will really get your blood pumping.
